HYPNOSIS TO HELP WITH YOUR FEARS IN WEST LONDON -

HILLINGON, UXBRIDGE , AND EALING

 Testimonial August 2010

 Matthew helped me to overcome my fear of dogs. Even thinking about them had made my hair stand on end. He examined my fears - got me to rate them in fear levels,  and then collapsed those levels in hypnosis. He put me into a wonderful state of calm.

 I used to run away when dogs were even on the other side of the road - now I can touch them. He was most professional and his methods helped with my physics exams too.

'Faer' is an ancient English word meaning 'sudden danger', and apparent danger inspires fear. Phobus is the name of the Greek god who could strike terror into the minds of victims and drive the into the clutches of the god Pan - who would strike victims with uncontrollable behaviour - a Panic attack.

 Fear is normal in situations where there is a real or specific danger. It can be an enjoyable experience if we are at a fairground seeking sensation, or going to see a thriller movie. It is a learned response, that can be unlearned.

Anxiety is an unpleasant emotional reaction, that can be accompanied by unwanted physical symptoms. Fear comes from evaluating an event or situation, anxiety is an emotional reaction to that evaluation.

Phobia is an extreme kind of fear, out of proportion to what is required in the situation, that cannot be explained or reasoned away, it is largely beyond voluntary control and leads to avoidance.

 What do we know?

 According to statistics - one in nine people have a phobia of some sort;

                                      one in twenty have a panic attack at some time in their lives.

 Trauma, association with trauma, and avoidance,  of people or situations, trigger phobias.

 We are born with two fears - that is, fear of falling, and fear of loud noise.  Any other fears are not innate, but learned fears. Therefore we can learn new responses to these.

 Fear can arrest our decision making skills, causing us to avoid making any, and unable to break away from destructive habits.

 How does hypnotherapy help?

  It helps through tackling both the cause and the symptoms of the phobia. If we change the attitude from one of fight or flight to one of a relaxed  response, we remove the fear.

Regression is used to identify the root cause of the phobia;

  Thought Field Therapy will help to reframe your mind,

Traumatic Incident Recovery may be necessary to deal with post traumatc stress;

 Eye Movement Therapy is used to remove trauma;

 Emotional Freedom Techniques are used to change trauma into positivity;

and Neuro Linguistic Programming is used to change attitudes - these are explained above in services.

 Past Life Regression is also used, if necessary, to uncover fears that seem hidden from one's experience. If we cannot find a root cause of a phobia in everyday experience, we may need to look for it elsewhere. This is not a frivilous exercise, but a tool that is used to facilitate change.

 In December 2010 the Daily Mail reported that one in five women were afraid of going to the dentist. They report that extreme dental anxiety is noticed in 19% of women by the NHS Information Centre. This is also seen in 10% of men.

This may be due to a fear of imagined  pain involved, a fear of needles, a fear of helplessness, or any other reason. Effective Hypnosis has been involved in hypnotising people in the dentist's chair. Hypnotherapy can help to examine and eliminate fears.

 Fear of flying - Aviaphobia -

Matthew gets consulted on flying phobia quite often. Virgin Atlantic, who run a flying without fear course,  estimate that one in five people have a fear of flying, but that about 95% of these can be cured of it.

 There are a number of causes, sometimes associated with other phobias. Sometimes the cause is a fear of being trapped in an enclosed space for a long period of time; sometimes it is a fear for the safety of the aircraft; sometimes a worry about terrorist activity; sometimes a social phobia; sometimes a feeling of being out of control; sometimes post traumatic stress - the remembering of a previous event that leads to similar experiences becoming difficult - the incident remains in the sub-conscious and is readily activated by an associated stimulus.

 But, statistically speaking, flying is a lot more safe than driving, and hypnotherapy can help people overcome their irrational fears.

 Exam stress can make the mind go blank and prevent success. Matthew will help you to deal with exams without worry.

 Hypnotherapy can help by altering the reactions, and establishing a more positive mindset. This can open up the world to people.
