Lack of Sleep and Weight Gain

This week it has been reported that the University of Uppsala in Sweden produced figures of research amoungst students showing that sleep deprivation reduces metabolic rate - leading to weight gain.

We know from previous research, at Norwich University Hospital, in 2009, that tired people consume an extra 1000 calories a day -both the hormone responsible for storing fat and the one for letting you know when you are full go haywire.

Sleep deprivation is also linked to increased fatigue, mood swings, irritability, lack of concentration, poor memory, stomach problems, mistakes and accidents.

In 2010 the shopping channel QVC produced a report suggesting that 87% of people are tired all the time. Ealing is reported to have a population of 305, 000. If over 260, 000 residents are suiffering from a lack of sleep, hw many are overweight as a result?

The hidden dangers of counterfeit cigarettes

Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs announced in March 2011 that they estimate that one in four cigarettes smoked in the UK are counterfeit. They state that these can be up to thirty times more dangerous to the body .

We already know that normal cigarettes contain over 4,800 chemical poisons - including nicotine, ammonia, hydrogen sulphide, carbon monoxide and formaldehyde.

Nicotine is a highly toxic nerve poison that constrictarteies, preventing blood flow. It causes high blood pressure and does not relax you.

HMRC says that fake cigarettes contain about 200% more tar, 90% more nicotine, and 133% more carbon monoxide. The health risks are enormous.

 Hypnosis may be the answer.

 Hypnotic Gastric Band

The NHS reported, in 2009, that a quarter of all adults were clinically obese. But now, in 2011, youngsters seem to be worried about it.

The media reports that the number of teenagers who have had the gastric band operation has gone up by three times in three years.

there could be a number of reasons for this. The lifestyle ofteens encourages them to eat cheaply - so that they can save for clothes or drink - and fast food is low cost. When they do eat it seems to be on the go , and processed foods are full of additives. even if they do seem to be getting their three meals a day, all of us are continuously stimulated to eat food outside of mealtimes - through advertising and packaging. Teens may also find gymsd boring and repetitive.

The risks associated with obesity are many - Type 2 Diabetes, Gallstones, Osteoarthritis, Stroke, Heart Attack, Gout, Heart Disease, and several types of cancer.

Gastric band surgery involves fitting a band near the top of the stomach, restricting the amount of food that can pass down to the lower part - the top part of the stomach fills up quickly, makionmg patients feel full . It costs upwards of £7000, and can involve  long waiting lists.

It is possible to use the power of hypnosis to convince people that they have had the gastric band fitted, and the success has been published in the media.

This process carries no operative risk, no pain, no waiting list, and is done at a fraction of the operative cost.It can have the same result

Of course, the Hypnotic Gastric Band does not wave a magic wand - those who take part also take on responsibility for diet and exercise, but bad eating habits can be overcome, and self esteem raised.
