This is two thirds of all smokers. How can you give up without higher stress levels, cravings, or weight gain? Many smokers think that giving up smoking will be very hard, and near to impossible. But Effective Hypnosis can help you. Research from the Bart's and London School of Medicine and Dentistry shows that giving up reduces stress levels.
It's true Have we grabbed your attention ? Whilst it is impossible to claim a 100% success rate with all the people we have worked with, just one session with Matthew Hall is often enough to end this destructive habit, and transform your life. But do remember it is not mind control. It is something that comes out of a perfectly natural process, that the therapist can guide, in order to get you to where you want to be. With the permission of your subconscious mind, you can make the changes. You can give direct instructions to your subconscious mind, in order to acheive the outcome you want.
A worldwide problem The World Health Organisation predicted, in Febuary 08, that one billion people would have been killed by smoking by the end of the century. In 2008/2009, 18% of all deaths in the England 35+ age group were attributed to smoking. According to the Telegraph, in May 08, about a quarter of the British population smokes, but numbers are falling at a much slower rate than the Department of Health would like. 67% 0f all smokers are reported as wanting to give up. You may have tried to stop before, but found it just too difficult. But no matter how many times you have tried to quit smoking in the past, no matter how many years you have been addicted, hypnotherapy can help you stop for good.
Why do people smoke? Is it just a bad habit, or is it an addiction?
Smoking may give much pleasure to those that have the habit, releasing dopamine, a chemical that gives the brain a mini high; it may provide a sense of security, or various secondary gains - for example -acceptance in a social group, feeling part of the crowd. Some people think that smoking helps them keep off weight gain. However, 2011 research at the Nordic School of Public Health(NHV) in Sweden, has shown the there are increases in both Body Mass index and Waist Hip Ratio in smokers - so this is a misconception. Here are a few reasons/ excuses we have heard - I am addicted, It helps me combat anxiety, It helps me deal with stress, I am fatigued, It acts as a reward/ comfort, I am bored, unloved, insignificant, I am depressed.
Are These Good Reasons?
You don't need us to tell you how bad smoking is for you - it is well documented. Consider what the General Medical Council says happens to your body - Smoking causes cancer of the lungs, mouth, throat, larynx, liver, oesophagus, pancreas, stomach, kidney, and bladder. It slowly destroys the lung functions - one in eight smokers dies of lung cancer. Clogged arteries restrict bloodflow and normal bodily functions, resulting in heart disease. Women are more at risk from smoking related heart problems than men, as they seem to be more sensitive to the effects than men - despite the fact that women tend to smoke less. Research published in The Lancet in August 2011 showed that women were 25% more likely than men to devlop coronary diseases. Smoking affects unborn babies, preconception, problems in pregnancy, and can cause osteoporosis. It is also a heart risk to those on the contraceptive pill. If you are expecting a baby then you should stop now for the baby's health - smoking can bring on the rupturing of the placenta, leading to brain damage or still birth. For nine months you should give your body over to the health of your baby. Smoking ruins the skin, and leads to the appearance of premature aging. The brain diverts vitamins away from the skin, in a smoker. Nicotine also reduces blood flow to the skin which means less oxygen is getting there. Skin becomes sallow and reproduction deteriorates. It sags and wrinkles because the body cannot produce collagen effectively. Smoking can cause psoriasis, and this can lead on to arthritis. Smoking leads to worsening eyesight. Smoking is a major cause of heart attack. In fact, the ban on smoking in public places, of July 07, was reported to have significantly reduced heart attacks a year afterwards. Smoking is said to make the risk of having a heart attack four times more likely - in a report from the Canadian Stroke Congress in September 2011. Although many people think that smoking will keep their weight down, it actually increases the amount of harmful fats, called triglycerides, in the body, and will not keep the weight off. It is a major cause of bronchitus, emphysema, coronary artery disease, heart disease, stroke, and can lead to limb amputation through impaired respiration and circulation.
Constituents of tobacco smoke -
Each cigarette contains over 4,800 chemical poisons. These include Nicotine, Hydrogen Sulphide, Methanol (rocket fuel) , Acetone (nail polish remover), Ammonia ( toilet cleaner), Arsenic (rat poison) DDT and Dieldrin (insecticide), Benzene (petrol exhaust fumes), Hydrogen Cyanide ( poisonous gas), Carbon Monoxide, Pyridine, and Formaldehyde ( preservses corpes). Each of these poisons is taken into the body with every drag of every cigarette. Assuming ten drags per cigarette, you are taking in 48, 000 poisons per cigarette. If you smoke 20 a day - that is 960, 000 poisons, every day. According to reports - see News - neither the strength of the nicotine or the length of the cigarette makes much difference to the effect it has on a smoker's body. Nicotine is a highly toxic nerve poison. It constricts arteries, preventing proper blood flow. It raises blood pressure, and stimulates the entire nervous system. It is a powerful stimulent and does not relax you. And counterfweit cigarettes are much more dangerous. A customs announcement, in March 2011, suggested that one in four cigarettes smoked in the uk are fake. HMRC said that these can be thirty times more dangerous. The results of the study into the link between cancer and tobacco was partially supressed by the McMillan government in 1956, as they were worried about loss of tax income. However, smokers will always justify their habit, no matter what risks, until they have had a change of heart, and hypnotherapy helps towards this mindshift. As we said, you don't need us to tell you. Does continuing to smoke make any sense ?
What do the experts say?
Researchers at the University of Baskent, in Turkey, reported that there is no safety in smoking low tar brands, according to the Heart journal, in May 07, as the risk of coronary impairment is just the same. BUPA tells us that smoking shortens life by ten years. ASH tells us that fifty million working days a year in the UK are lost due to a smoking related illness. The BMA states, in 2008, that smoking related illnesses kill more than 90,000 people each year. But research shows that the benefits of stopping can be seen almost immediately. About a half of all violent incidents on air trips are to do with illicit smoking, due to addiction. This has led to many prosecutions, and criminal records for those involved. The Journal of Epidemiology and Community reports that the children of mothers who smoke are likely to suffer from bad moods and cry more often - in March 08. Women smokers are at a greater risk of developing lung cancer than men - and with fewer cigarettes, according to Dr. Martin Frueh, from the Gallen Canton Hospital in Switzerland, in May 09. A government think tank - the Policy Exchange - has published a report, in March 2010, suggesting that each cigarette smoked costs the tax payer 6.5p in health spending and lost productivity to the economy.
About addictions.
An addiction is a response made through habit, and a source of pleasure or security. It is a way of coping with things happening both inside and outside the individual. It provides predictable relief from the stresses and strains of everyday living. The most vulnerable people to addiction are those that are not satisfied with life, feel lonely, through lack of contact with individuals or groups, lack self confidence or interests. They feel that smoking will provide them with these benefits. Addiction occurs as a stage of adaption to a poison. If you take a poison in a large dose it will harm you. But if you take that poison in a small dose you can learn to adapt to it, just as long as you keep repeating the dose often enough for your body to build it's adaption. once you have achieved adaption you will be able to tolerate larger doses. Absenteeism leads to craving. Unsatisfied craving leads to withdrawal. Withdrawal demands a fix. A fix stops withdrawal. The brain interprets the end of withdrawal as pleasure. But the only pleasure is the end of withdrawal symptoms. There is not only physical addiction to nicotine, but also a psychological addiction to the times or situations in which you would smoke. This may lead to a craving that is not merely physical. You may have to sacrifice other habits and situations once you have stopped smoking. Hypnosis will help to uncover much of this. Richard Madeley was seen on Channel 5, in 2010, saying that everybody that smokes less than 20 a day thinks that they are not addicted - but they are. In fact, only one cigarette twice a week will maintain an addiction - the nicotine will stay in the body for four days - so a cigarette on Sunday followed by one on Wednesday will still maintain an addiction - that can stretch to smoking more and more each day. The NHS reports, in January 2012, that many ex smokers believe that having one cigarette a day will be ok, but it will maintain your addiction. Addicts believe their drug helps them. Tobacco dependance changes the way the brain works, because nicotine is a psychoactive drug - a narcotic. It can give you a lift, but it is short lived, the craving for more and more is always there. But many smokers are addicted to the habit, rather than the substance - according to a survey produced in December 08, hypnosis can lead them away from this addiction and stamp out smoking forever. Is there any hope ?
Quitting with NRT - nicotine replacement therapy, is effective for some - about 16% - But giving up with NRT does still maintain a dependence on nicotine, which means that the temptation to smoke will still be there. Evidence from Harvard School of Public Health, 2012, suggests that up to 35% relapse within a year ( so NRT is no more effective than willpower ). Champix is a prescribed aid to relieve the craving and withdrawal symptoms associated with stopping smoking. But, the side effects can include - feeling depressed, irritable, frustrated or anxious, and sleeplessness, with concentration difficulty.Sydney University published results of tests on giving up, in Febuary 2010, and said that the overwhelming majority of people gave up without NRT. Hypnosis is perfectly natural, and will have no side effects. The Israeli Medical Association published in 2008 stating that they had found a 90% success rate in people overcoming addictions with hypnosis.
How can hypnotherapy help?
Through hypnotic trance we contact the subconscious mind, which contains 90% of the brain's power. We can give direct suggestions to the subconscious mind, and use this tremendous power to change whatever we want. The Smoking Cessation Program helps to break the chain of compulsion by removing the triggers that reinforce the habit. We tackle the vulnerability to addiction through helping the addict to re-evaluate life. We help people to release internal endorphins, releasing the need for dopamine hits. We overcome the addiction through using time distortion techniques. We tackle anxiety and stress by raising self esteem. We focus people's energy on goals, changing faulty belief systems, and changing their mindset to one that keeps you from wanting to smoke. Hypnosis will help to remove associative and emotional triggers that have lodged in your mind for so long. Thoughty Field Therapy is used to change the beliefs around addiction, and remove cravings . Neuro Linguistic Programming is used to create an aversion to cigarettes. Hypnosis will convince people that they are, and will be, non smokers. This makes it very easy to stop smoking. Clients experience, at some point or other, an epiphany, a moment of learning and transformation, which means that they become non smokers. A frame of mind that desires a healthy lifestyle is created. This is backed up by a CD recording of the session and free follow ups are available, if necessary. This means that if you ever start smoking again, you will get more sessions at no charge. We know , from our follow up research, that our hypnotherapy techniques are extremely successful. With approximately £2300 a year at stake, plus your health deteriorating with every smoke, isn't it time to quit smoking with hypnotherapy methods?

Many people stop after just ONE SESSION, but we have a back up plan if that fails. This is offered with a lifetime promise - if you ever start smoking again, we will continue to work with you until you stop. The Advertising Standards Authority don't like the offer of a guarantee, because they say it may confuse people, but this is in effect what we offer. But take up on free sessions is extremely minimal, because this system works so well. Call Matthew Hall on Researchers at Exeter University have shown that ex smokers who exercise are less likely to start again. The report, in March 09, said that a chemical released in exercise took away cravings.
